Put on your sneakers and give it your best shot!
There is something in the air around our house lately. It creeps up on me when I least expect it and drags me down with no hope of getting up. Laziness, tiredness, lack of motivation to do anything! It started around Christmas time when I was too busy shopping and wrapping to work on the house and it's gone downhill from there. After all the Holiday feasts I've had no motivation to cook and always revert to begging for take out. Of course I've cooked a few meals but they are with no enthusiasm or taste. Then came the New Year and planning for Moses' party. After work I was too busy doing a craft for the party or running over to my moms that I let the house slip away from me. Little kitchen table piles turned into dining room table piles and bedroom piles and playroom piles. The housework became daunting and laying on the cough for a couple hours watching TV started sounding better and better. Even little things I enjoy like clipping coupons and grocery shopping just seem blah! I want to kick this bad attitude and laziness! I don't feel like getting into everything right now because all the changes that have happened in the last 10 days don't even seem real but just don't a need a good butt kickin' around the house!

Grab your backpack, let's go!
I survived. It was brutal, unpleasant, sometimes over and over; it occurred so many times back to back I didn’t know if I could take it again. If I had to watch another Dora the Explorer episode one more time I think my head would have shot off my body screaming Spanish words. Oh, what about Moses being super sick? Eh, he’s okay. But Dora, oh Dora how I loath thee. Since we cut off our cable to save money and all we’ve been gifted several children’s DVD’s for Moses’ enjoyment. We have Bob the Builder, Thomas the Train, a few old school Sesame Streets and Dora. We have a 1 hours 45 minuet musical + episodes and then a 48 minuet long combined episode DVD; I’m not kidding when I say we watched them on repeat for 4 days straight. It’s something about the poor quality graphics, the loudness of her voice, the diction of her words and oh God the repetitiveness that drives me insane. Really, why does the map need to repeat the three places they need to go so many times? WE GET IT. Thankfully Lion King saved us a few times when even Moses got tired of Dora. I witnessed Moses’ first experience of sadness for a movie. During the part where Simba’s dad gets trampled by the stampede and Simba goes over to his dad father and weeps Moses kept saying “oh no Simba’s daddy” “wake up daddy, wake up”. It broke my heart and in that very moment I wished I could place him in a large bubble and never let him experience real death in his life.
Anyways back to my barfing baby, he’s all better now. He bounced between vomiting to fevers to diarrhea to constantly not wanting to eat. We pretty much camped out on the living room couch converted hospital bed complete with towels lining every inch and barf buckets in arms reach. Yesterday he finally had an appetite and slowly worked back to eating more than a few crackers. I don’t want to get too graphic but lets just say this is the first time since we’ve converted to cloth diapers that I wish we had disposables; a leaking buttock of a two year old is not pretty no matter if I’m his mother or not!
It feels good to be back to the daily grind however I’m feeling extremely disoriented with being in an office chair with a To Do list as long as my note pad for Moses’ party this weekend. Happy Monday and Happy Friday from me to you!

Crutches and chunks, oh my!
On Friday afternoon do you dream of how your weekend is going to go? A fun night out to eat after work? Cleaning the house for hours on Saturday then to be rewarded by a trip to Target after the baby wakes from his nap? Church then family lunch and maybe a visit to see the newest member of our family? Well, those were my plans and almost none went according to plan.
Friday night we braved the crowds and took our two year old with us to get sushi. Then we picked up sweets and a movie at Publix and went to bed early. Saturday morning I woke up to start the 2nd of 3 things I hoped to do only for those plans to quickly go wrong. I was carrying a laundry basket full of clothers down the step into the playroom and managed to step on every toy Mo had placed in the doorway; quickly falling to the ground and scream crying. I don't know what turned or pulled or broke but I have never cried that hard from physical pain in my adult life. Moses and I reverted roles as I laid on the ground screaming and he stood over me unsure what to do but tried to comfort. Note to self: don't act like a big baby in front on your baby. Davy eventually helped me up and I didn't get off the couch for hours. I couldn't move my foot and slowly it started to swell.
My entire day of cleaning and Target had been ruined. I miserably, lazily laid on the couch trying to figure out what to do. You see most people would just sleep the night away or go to the doctors BUT we had an engagement party to go to that we had been looking forward to for weeks. I wasn't going to miss it. Thankfully the In-Laws had a pair of crutches Davy went to pick up for me then we (yes we because it was a two person job getting me ready) got me ready for the party. I felt like Moses as I sat in the bath tub with a foot of water trying to wash my hair sitting down.Davy was wonderful all afternoon; he understood I needed him and didn't mind help doing everything. The rest of the night I hobbled around on crutches, mingled at the party and even made a post party trip to Steak N Shake which shows how dedicated I was to having a fun night!
The next morning we went to pick Moses up from my parents house only to find out the weekened just got a whole lot worse. Moses had been throwing up all night! First every where in his bed then in my sisters bed then on the blanket palette in the living room. Not only we were dealing with crutching me around everywhere but now we had a sick boy with a barf bucket to deal with. Can I just say Davy is incredible? Holding the barf bucket with one arm facing the back seat while Mo threw up and driving with the other hand; yeah, that incredible. We covered the couch in towels (however Mo still managed to blow chunks on my brand new blanket....love ya baby!) and laid Moses and I down and that's where we stayed all day long. It was painfully boring but desperately needed. Lots of throwing up and eating and Angry Birding and Dora took place during those many hours of rest. Moses woke up every couple hours last night but thankfully the throwing up has stopped. As for my foot its healing; still bruised and very sore but more than likely nothing is broken.
Needless to say, this weekend was MUCH different than planned. Lets hope we can steer clear of broken bones and sickness this week as we prepare for Moses' party on Saturday!

My God, what a world you love.
Dead man, were you ever alive?
Did you even for a second hesitate in the doorway?
It's just something that I'd like to know
Though I'd still love you if told me
That you just walked away
My God, what a world you love
Where men bury their sons
And without thought just walk away
Dead man, is it being high that makes you alive?
It makes you leave behind three boys and a wife in '89
As the track marks inched their way up your arm
My mother taught my brothers and I not to call you daddy
But to call you father
But I believe there is something here to be learned of grace
'Cause I can't help but love you
No I can't help but love you
Even with a heart that breaks
Like the promises that you made
Like the promises that you made
The promises that you made
'Cause I still love you
My God, what a world you love

I wish I could bottle this exploding joy in a bottle!
Per the Birthday boy’s request we went to “FRENCH FRIES FRENCH FRIES…CHICKEN….CHICK A LAY” aka Chick Fil A for dinner last night and could not have had a better experience. Davy was feeling a little wild with our new 2 year old and decided to leave the backpack and all its contents at home. It silly how nervous it made me to have no diapers, wipes, cups, or passies with us but he did great. He drank of out a “big boy” kid’s cup, ate all of his food, and managed to tell every child at the playground is was his birthday.

We kept yesterday pretty low key because we are throwing him an actually party next weekend with family and friends. Our goals with Moses during his second year (well technically third year but I know it’s early and I better not confuse anyone!) (strike)lets hope it doesn’t take all year(/strike) is to keep ALL pasifiers in his bed to only be used at bedtime and to work on potty training at home. Limiting the passies has turned out great so far and I’m certain since he doesn’t have one all day at school that eliminating them completely in a couple months shouldn’t be that upsetting. They started potty training at school months ago but we have not been consistence at nights or on the weekends. We felt like he wasn’t showing any sign of being “ready” and it wasn’t an issue we were pushing. Well over the Christmas break Moses started recognizing having “feelings” down there and started telling us again when he needed to go; he even had his first successful poopey on the potty! After that monumental day he’s been quick to tell us when he is going in his diaper but has yet to have success again. I’m hoping with the praise he received for going and keeping up the consistency that we will continue on a steady rise of success with potty training. I’m (strike)mom of the year(/strike) and forgot to even make Moses a 2 year old check up at the doctors so I have no stats to share but judging by the pictures we all know he’s a growing happy boy!

This last picture showcases the story I have yet to share, Moses' black eye! It's been 5 days since colliding with his cousin's head in a bounce house but the black eye is still healing! Talk about feeling like a bad parent bringing you kid back to school from break having a black eye and bloody lip! Thankfully all parents of boys just look and smile knowing EXACTLY what life is like!

When you give a boy lots of food, he turns into a toddler.
My 9lbs 1 ounce, 20 inches long newborn.
How did he turn into…
A two month old that sits in picnic baskets….
And smiles at his mommy….
And has chubby armpits…
How did he turn into a 6 month old who sits great on his own…
And stands grabbing onto something…
And officially stole his daddy’s heart….
How did he turn into a one year old…
Who only feels better snuggled on the couch with juice…
Who loves throwing footballs and all things boy…
How did he turn into a boy who takes school photos…
And melts my heart every single day….
Happy 2nd Birthday to my toddler Moses… “As long as I’m living my baby you’ll be”

So long, farewell.
Unlike last year when I tried to write a long post about our year this time I’m doing things differently. For the past year (and longer) this blog has become a journal of my life. I write on days when I’m a happy Mommy, a bored employee, a sassy wife, and a funny girl. It shares the ups, downs, and in betweens that life given us and I’m thankful to report, we’ve survived 2010! We’ve had some wonderful moments and some not so wonderful moments (as I write this Pink Floyd’s “Wish you were here” just started playing on Pandora and I can’t help but think those exact same words).
2009 was a learning year for us; how to be parents. We had many trials and errors, leaning curves, and firsts. 2010 was spent enjoying the fruits of our labor. No longer were we worried about a weird diaper rash or food he couldn’t eat. Our baby has grown into a little boy full of adventure. Often times I find myself brushing off the accidental falls or the consumption of foreign objects from the yard. We’ve learned how to be married AND be parents and they’ve fallen together nicely. More than ever I find myself enjoying the little moments; i.e. laying on the leaves in the front yard as Moses runs around with no diaper on getting swept away by the wind. So what if I’m getting dirty, so what that my baby is rubbing his man parts in the dirt, so what the I’m getting absolutely nothing accomplish while laying here. You know, those kind of happy moments?
January 1st morning Davy and I laid in bed sharing our “resolutions” with each other and it feels great to know we are on the same page. Some were the typical resolutions of losing weight and getting organized and saving money while some our a little more exciting like the future of our family. I’m constantly finding myself loving life even more than I did the month before and I cannot wait to see what 2011 holds for us!
