Somewhat Wordless Wednesday! The first is a picture of the boys disassembling Moses' crib. Last weekend I (yes I did it using all 16 pages of picture-only instructions by myself thankyouverymuch) assembled Mo's toddler bed and have slowly started transforming his nursery to a little boy's room. We were uncertain how the big move from crib to bed was going to go seeing how last time we tried it failed; we decided to leave the crib up as a backup for one week. I'm happy to report the transition has gone wonderfully; I truly think he wasn't old enough before that's why it was a constant struggle. This time around he has done well staying in his bed all night and will even stay tucked under the covers (babbling) until he falls asleep. After a successful first week we knew it was time to take down the crib. In true boy style Mosey copied everything Davy did and together they took it apart.
(So this is turning into Lots-Of-Words-Wednesday but I'll go with it)
These little moments happen all the time around the house and thankfully I was able to grab the camera and capture it. The boys are smitten by each other and spend most days making the other laugh. Moses was just about ready for bed before Davy started a game of Spitting Passies Into the Air and Catching them. If you're not a parent yet please don't think we're crazy; kids change you in the best ways possible.

Working Mom, take #2
I survived the first two days! I never doubted I would, I just didn't know how I was going to feel when theey were over. First let me preface Monday morning with I woke up feeling sick; yeah, how does that even happen on my first day? I planned on writing last night but after drinking a bottle of Nyquil I didn't make it past 8:30pm. Yesterday and today I've been running on about 70%. But other than that I have no complaints!
The people are just as nice as I remember from my interview and all my little worries have been answered. Yes I have my own office and parking space, yes I CAN do what they ask of me, yes this will be a great place to work, yes there is an office refrigerator and yes to daily coffee! I few bonus perks are having a window in my office (it even opens unlike the ones on the 5th floor at my old jobthey don't fear someone hates their job so much they decide to jump ) and they are giving me a Smart Phone AND paying for it!
These past days have been spent training and skimming the surface of all the terminology I need to become an expert on. Note to all: If you want to start making the big bucks quit yourlazy major and start learning how to do sometheing really really specific in the IT field you're welcome .
I have lots of fun posts coming up; birthday parties and birthday dinner and videos and growing up and all that good stuff. The pace may get a little slower around here while we all adjust but not to fear I'll always be here!

:)
This feels incredible. I woke up this morning to the sound of my little guy running down the hallway into my bedroom. He jiggled the doorknob until it came loose then quickly slammed the door shut as if he wanted it to be just the two of us. He peared up high enough to see which side of the bed I was on then strolled on over to say hello. I pretended to be sleeping with my eyes closed until I knew he stood face to face with me then I opened them with a big smile on my face; he happily returned the smile. I rolled over and the sunshine was already pearing through the window; “ahh” I thought, it had to be after 8 o clock if it was this light. I was right, it was a blissfull 8:30am.
I spent the rest of the morning slowly getting ready; I dressed in skinny jeans and Toms because that’s what a girl not going to the office can do. After I dropped off Moses at school I headed down to my old “college days” hangout, a coffee shop. I was greeted by a firmiliar face and without hesitation ordered a macho Glorious Morning muffincalories don’t count on your birthday .
After I paid I looked around the room to find a seat with an outlet nearby; perfect, a couple was getting up from a seat right by the window facing the street. I took my timing eating my muffin with a fork and sipping my Caramel Machiatto. Pure bliss. I was in no hurry to get out a school book or type an assignment or head back to work; I was (and am) free.
As I looked out the window I thought to myself how long it had been since I’ve done this and I honestly couldn’t remember. The last time I actually sat in a coffee shop to drink coffee was back when the last Twilight Sagano shame came out but the last time I sat by myself was at least over a year ago, maybe longer.
My last day of work could not have come at a better time. I’m happy, content, fulfilled, loved, peaceful, joyful. Not to mentionbut I’m going to anyways it’s not even noon and I’ve already been showered with Birthday love. My friends and family having been pouring Birthday wishes down from all types of social networks and real life wishes.
I feel so incredibly loved today.

I have gray hair but that's not saying much.
I’m young at heart and sometimes in real life too. Sometimes I actually act my age and, get this, it even feels good. Saturday night we made last minuet plans to “go out” with a group of friends. Normally my go to excuse is “I’m too tired” because normally coming off a 40 hour week and a messy house I’m ready to crash by 11pm but Saturday I said yes with no hesitation. Sometimes I need to get dressed up, hold my husbands hand and have a good time.
We met up with one of our favorite "couple friend" (side note: When I say couple friend I mean two people we like that are dating….which means there is always a chance they could break up and no longer be our couple friends. This has happened to us recently and I think I was more upset they broke up then they were. I cannot wait until our friends grow up and start getting married and having babies and finally be on our level in life. Anyways…) and a few others to venture out to a trendy up and coming area of town, Midtown.
(We live in Midtown and if we have more money I wish we could buy in Midtown because it’s simply wonderful. Trendy with coffee and cupcake shops, charming old houses, and takes 10 minuets to get anywhere you want to go.) I’m full of tangents today because here comes another one: when we know we are going out I normally try to nap, have a double shot espresso, and possibly a 5 Hour Energy to get my body ready to be up later than 11pm but Saturday I just had coffee in the afternoon not even knowing about the latter plans.
All tangents are over and I simply want to say we went out Saturday night and had lots of fun. We hopped around Midtown and downtown a bit, closed down a bar on campus, and even hit up Steak N Shake for fatty fatty food. We danced, we laughed, we hugged old friends and I even managed to have some serious talks yelling over the boom boom music.
The best part of the night was I felt my age and it felt good. No waking up to my 6:30am alarm or baby or obligations; just enjoying ourselves. This isn’t something we do often nor do I want to make it habit per say but I do want to make it a habit to remember I’m still young and it’s OKAY to act my age!
My birthday is Thursday and sometimes I like being young!

This morning I took my first jab at making bread from scratch! I was able to use the dough hook on my mixer (did I mention yet how excited I was for this present and how long Ive been waiting to use the hook?) which made things super easy. I prepped the dough last night and tossed it in the oven this morning. I loved smelling it bake and cant wait to taste it! Happy weekend everyone :)

Provider.
I promise I didn’t mean to leave you hanging with Wednesday’s post. I was all “this sucks but I promise it gets good” and then never delivered! The good news is….I quit my job! Why? Because I got a new one! And you thought the last two weeks couldn’t get any crazier, right?
It all started a couple weeks ago when I got a call from a girlfriend rambling about a job offer. A mutual friend asked her if she was interested or if she knew anyone who was. For some reason I came to mind and next thing I know I’m on the phone with our mutual friend for 45 minuets one night talking about this job. Talking about lots of information I know nothing about but the key undertone in his voice being passion. He seemed to love his job, love his company, and loved the potential of me getting this job.
I have worked at my current job for two and half years and enjoyed the comfort it brought, even if it wasn’t the most fulfilling. The security kept my family happy and my coworkers kept me happy. I wasn’t even looking for a new job but deep down *cough* God *cough* I felt like I should follow through and call the President of the company.
Two days later I was sitting in his office with the Vice President talking about the potential of working for them. Before our meeting I kept praying “God I’m so nervous but I don’t want to be…take over my body and be in control of my speech…lead this interview”; He did. I felt so calm sitting in that meeting and left with the same feelings of passion and integrity these people put into their company.
I figured it was a long shot I was actually going to get the job but walked away having the utmost respect for small businesses. A week later I got a phone call telling me I got the job!
First thoughts were excitement then slight fear crept in. Started over from scratch; being the new girl in “training” and tip toeing my way around the office until I feel comfortable eating breakfast at my desk. Another fear is the unknown; State agencies and the private sector our set up very differently when it comes to insurance, leave time, and general work guidelines.
My last day at my current job is Wednesday and then I start my new job Monday. I will update in the coming weeks on how we are all handling the change. It’s going to take some adjusting but overall we are so excited for this opportunity.
Can you tell I’m just a babbling mess about it? My excitements and fears come in waves; I don’t even know how to control them right now!

Healer.
Do you ever feel like you need to be a certain way for other people? Duh, of course you do. If you say no, you’re lying. That’s how I’ve felt about blogging this week. I feel pressure (from only myself of course) to post about the birthday party this past weekend and include pictures. Well guess what? I don’t have any pictures yet and I don’t feel like sitting down and rehashing everything without pictures…so I’m not going to write a post about it. I’m not ready yet. Yes, the party was great but I just don’t want to say so….yet.
I’ve also been holding two things back that I actually want to write about but felt like I needed time to construct the right words to talk about both. But guess what? I don’t! I’m just going to blurt them out because I can’t stop thinking about them. First I’ll share sad news but keep reading because it will be followed by good news. I wish the good news had to do with the bad news but they are actually completely separate events.
My mother’s brother, my Uncle, was shot in the head two weeks ago and died last week. Blah, there, I said it. It’s out and it’s terrible. His life has been anything but perfect and he’s had ups and downs. Sometimes he’d been gone for a while then randomly show back up. He struggles but my mom never seemed to worry about him. About a month ago she called me with glee in her voice because she just got off the phone with her brother. Completely out of character he called her up one day just to talk. I’m not sure how often they would speak throughout the year but judging by the excitement that he called I’m assuming it wasn’t often. She said he sounded happy and didn’t ask for money. He had a girlfriend of four years and things seem to be going well for him. He just wanted to talk with my mom and see how she was. I’m sure the conversation could have not lasted more than an hour but she treasured that phone call as if he called with good news. The good news simply being he was thinking about her.
This is the second phone call my Mom has received that someone she holds in the inner circle of her heart has died. The first one being her Father and I happen to answer that phone call New Years day years ago. I’ll never, ever forget her facial expression and shrill scream after my Great Aunt told her the news. This time the phone call came days after the incident when detectives were finally able to get a phone number for a family member. The details are not importable except that the bullet was not intended for him. I don’t know if it makes me sadder to hear that someone was or was not aiming for him; either way, irrelevant. He was put on life support long enough for the family to say their goodbyes; Thursday night they went ahead and let him go.
It breaks my heart for my mother because I’m a firm believer death tears a person up and they should only have to burry one immediate family member in their lifetime. Of course God has a plan I simply do.not.understand and fortunately he makes people, like my Mom, strong enough to “handle it”. This week she is across the country spending time with family and making arrangements for the memorial service. Just hearing her voice on the phone I know she is radiating with faith. Her voice lit up when she told me she was able to talk to her Mom about Christ. How can someone dealing with such a tragedy be so joyous? God has literally wrapped her up in a blanket of peace and giving her the strength to be there.
So there it is, my crappy news I’ve been holding in. Like I said there is happy news but I just don’t have time to write it now. Maybe two posts in one day? Or maybe it will wait until tomorrow.
